Who we are?
In favour of the Somali people
Caritas Somalia established in 1980 to provide aid to refugees from the “Ogaden war.” And in 1983 we became an official member of Caritas Internationalis and Caritas MONA.
Due to the permanent situation of violence in the country, Caritas Somalia’s office has not had a stable place. In 1991 the office was moved to Nairobi, then, in 2001 to Djibouti; in 2006 to Baidoa; in 2016 to Hargeisa, and in 2017 back to Djibouti.
We now have presence in Southern Somalia, Puntland and Somaliland either directly and through collaboration with local non-governmental organizations.
What we do
Caritas strives for a world where the voices of the poor are heard and acted upon, where each person is free to flourish and live in peace and dignity. We work with people of all faiths and with those who have none, in favour of minorities and people living in povertyRead More
