In 2024, Somalia continued to face a multidimensional humanitarian crisis, marked by conflict, flooding, disease outbreaks and forced displacement. Despite severe access and security constraints, Caritas Somalia maintained life-saving assistance and longer-term support initiatives.

Emergency Flood Response – Beletweyne

Emergency assistance to 1,000 flood-affected households in Beletweyne, through the distribution of essential shelter and household kits. The intervention prioritized female-headed households, the elderly, people with disabilities, orphans, and other vulnerable families, ensuring equitable access based on population density and severity of impact across 8 IDP sites.

Objective: to support flood-affected households in meeting their immediate needs and stabilizing their living conditions by providing timely access to essential shelter and household items, mitigating the impact of displacement, and contributing to the long-term recovery of the most vulnerable families.

NFI Kit Distribution – Balcad District (Middle Shabelle)

Provision of essential non-food items (NFIs) to 220 internally displaced families in Balcad District, with a focus on improving living conditions and addressing urgent needs caused by displacement. The intervention supported vulnerable households, including women-headed families and indigenous community members, through targeted beneficiary selection, community mobilization, and organized distribution, ensuring equitable access and participation.

Objective: to enhance the well-being of displaced families by providing timely access to essential non-food items, mitigating the impact of displacement, and supporting vulnerable households in rebuilding their lives.
